Treating Injured Possums

AVA - Treating PossumsPossums in urban environments can easily become injured, given the many hazzards they encounter.

Providing a quite, safe environment and allowing the animal time to recover, will often be enough for minor injuries.

If the injuries are more serious or the animal requires housing for a period of time, either a wildlife carer or a veterinarian with an interest in native wildlife will need to be contacted.

The Australian Vererianary Association article attached contains information relation to housing, diet and treatment of injuries.  Please feel free to print it off and take it along to the practice, should the possum require a visit to your local surgery.

The attached "Brushtail & Ringtail Possums" is a pdf produced by the AVA South Australia.
