Isaac's Bringing Back the Birds

Nine year old Coromandel Valley Primary School student, Isaac Gordon has successfully secured a grant to assemble and install nesting boxes on his school grounds to encourage native birds. The nesting box kits were supplied by fauNature, to assist this exciting initiative.
Bring Us Your Bugs ii

Following on from the huge success of Bring Us Your BUGS, a second event to capture spring "Bugs" was organised by the University of South Australia, the SA Museum and fauNature! This time a "Most Wanted" list was created, but the researchers were after virtually any invertebrates (animals without backbones) from the 'wilds' of Adelaide - whether they flies, crawls, slithers, slides, swims or burrows!

Habitat Box Project

A range of Habitat / Nest Boxes built and decorated by local students will be exhibited in the West Torrens Auditorium throughout August as part of the South Australia Living Artists (SALA). The program was initiated and organized by the Michelle Mitolo, Community Development Officer for the City of West Torrens.

The Victorian bush fires were devastating for the residents and native wildlife alike. ABC Radio National recently ran a story highlighting the plight of fauna in the area and what a group of South Australian volunteers is doing about it.

Car Park Caper

fauNature will attend the 891 ABC Car Park Caper at Collinswood, Adelaide on the 21st March.
Twice a year 891 ABC in Adelaide holds a Car Park Caper to raise funds for various charities. The event is held in conjunction with the popular weekend gardening program hosted by Ashley Walsh in conjunction with Jon Lamb.
Cryptic Sun Moth

A rare day flying moth - the cryptic sun moth (Synemon theresa) was discovered by fauNature Director James Smith, together with his son Riley. The moth was found while collecting specimens for Bring Us Your BUGS which was held at the South Australian Museum on the 22nd January, 2009.

Bring Us Your BUGS, a public event organised by the University of South Australia and the SA Museum was a phenomenal success! fauNature's James Smith worked on this project from its inception and shared a sense of tremendous satisfaction, with all those involved in the way the public embraced the concept.

Operation Possum was a large-scale community based study of possums in South Australia. This Citizen Science study was conducted by the Barbara Hardy Centre (UniSA) in conjunction with 891 ABC Adelaide radio between the 20th of August and the 20th of November, 2008.
fauNature's James Smith assisted the Barbara Hardy Centre researchers and 891 ABC staff in formulating and delivering this exciting program.
